Based upon OST's patented technology, the CSS-VisionSensor consists of a low power laser diode, a motorised off-axis lens and a linear detector. The laser diode projects a spot through the off-axis lens on to the surface being assessed. Rotating the off-axis lens causes the spot to trace a circular pattern. As the lens rotates the distance between the spot sensor and the surface is measured and stored. After each rotation the data can be uploaded for further analysis.
The unique optical design ensures accuracy of data, and optical filters enable the CSS-VisionSensor to operate in a vast range of ambient conditions. The compact robust construction allows the sensor to be used in the most challenging of environments, including robot and manipulator mounted applications
Three variants of the CSS-VisionSensor are available offering a selection of working ranges and resolutions.
Communication is via Ethernet or RS485 and the system is supplied with a DLL module for users wishing to develop their own applications.
