The SRS-VisionSensor 75 and SRS-VisionSensor 250 are unique in the machine vision world. Unlike traditional vision systems, the SRS-Vision Sensors use specular reflections to accurately detect the exact location of corners, folds and bends in reflective surfaces whether painted or unpainted, solid or transparent.
Designed specifically to overcome the problems associated with most optical measurement systems, the Specular Reflection Sensor (SRS) is completely colour independent and can measure the position of glass, transparent materials, polished metals and gloss black surfaces.
The SRS-VisionSensors will calculate the position of a feature to within a fraction of a millimetre and are capable of making 100s of measurements per second.
An SRS-VisionSensor system can be applied where an exact location is needed to ensure accurate assembly of components, or as a measurement tool for advanced automated quality control.
Rounded features on any specular surface act as cylindrical mirrors - a phenomenon the SRS VisionSensor exploits to locate components.
Light emitting diodes provide illumination and two cameras detect a series of narrow peaks, representing the image of the light source formed by each curved feature.
The sensor matches the peaks and uses triangulation to calculate the exact position of the surface.
Intelligent software allows spurious peaks to be ignored, ensuring accuracy and repeatability.
