For fast accurate location of joints in welding applications

Based upon OST's patented Circular Scanning Sensor (CSS) technology. The CSS-WeldSensor projects a rotating spot onto the surface being analysed, allowing full 3D information to be obtained in a single fast measurement.

The optical design ensures a higher signal to noise ratio than alternative methods. This provides clear unambiguous measurement data, even from aluminum or galvanized surfaces. The optical design also allows the CSS-WeldSensor to operate in a wide range of ambient lighting conditions.

The compact robust construction of the CSS-WeldSensor ensures easy mounting and reliable operation in harsh welding environments. The optional pneumatic shutter assembly protects the viewing area from dirt ingress when the sensor is not is use.

Three variants of the CSS-WeldSensor are available to cover all welding processes, providing working ranges from 30mm to 165mm (1.18" to 6.50") and field of views from 12mm to 76mm (0.47" to 3.00")

The CSS-WeldSensor can be used in conjunction with the OST-QuickFind software package for the automated location of seams (weld preps) prior to welding or, in conjunction with OST-QuickTrack software package, for tracking seams (weld preps) and correcting the weld path in real time while welding.

Seam position and geometry are fed, via the OST-Controller, directly to the robot controller or motorized slide system.
