OST-WireFinder

OST-WireFinder
The OST-WireFinder provides automatic compensation for: Contact tip wear, torch distortion and the repeatability of torch changers all affect the position the wire leaves a torch. These errors reduce the quality of the weld, something which is hard to detect and unacceptable if the weld is safety critical.

The OST-WireFinder solves this problem by precisely measuring the actual position of the welding wire and correcting the robot path accordingly.

Designed for fast, accurate measurement, the OST-WireFinder is a compact unit with a circular viewing area into which the wire is placed. The actual position is precisely measured in a fraction of a second and the X and Y offsets (accurate to 0.1mm) given via two eight bit buses, two analogue outputs or a serial RS485 link, allowing the system to be used with almost all robot controllers.

The OST-WireFinder can be mounted anywhere in the robot’s reach and, due to its fast measurement time, can be used after the welding of each seam or complete component with no or minimal effect on cycle time.

The OST-WireFinder does not require complicated or lengthy installation by a specially trained system integrator but can be installed easily and quickly by any competent engineer.
